1.Cabinet Structure: Handle-less floor-to-ceiling integrated fixed cabinet.
The entire wall is custom-built with a split assembly structure, consisting of a left tall display cabinet + central wine rack functional area + right tall cabinet. The base sits on the floor, and the top aligns flush with the ceiling. This is a built-in fixed cabinet for whole-home customization, assembled on-site with adhesive caulking for finishing.
The panels are most likely ENF-grade multi-layer solid wood / OSB substrate with wood veneer finishing (walnut / imitation walnut PET wood-grain board), achieving a seamless grain-matching effect across the entire surface.
2.Joining Method: Three-in-one connectors with wooden dowel reinforcement.
All panels are pre-fabricated at the factory with pre-drilled three-in-one holes and assembled on-site with screws. Vertical dividers and shelves use invisible connectors, leaving no visible screw holes on the front for a clean appearance.
II. Zoned Detail Craftsmanship
1️⃣ Left & Right Tall Cabinet Sections
Upper Section: Open shelving with adjustable shelf pins. Shelves are edge-banded (PUR hot-melt edge sealing) for seamless, moisture-resistant finishing. No doors — open display compartments.
Lower Section: Hinged door system.
Doors are flush flat panels in a matching wood finish, equipped with concealed hinges (built-in dampening). Fitted with minimalist exposed wooden handles in a slim, elongated design. Double doors open to reveal enclosed storage space.
2️⃣ Central Wine Cabinet Section (Most Elaborate)
1.Upper Horizontal Wine Rack (Inverted Bottle Display Shelves):
Grooved and slotted construction — panels are milled with slots to hold wine bottles at an angle. Vertical white partition panels are laminate/painted boards in a contrasting color, installed as independent interlocking inserts (removable and replaceable after installation).
2.Diamond Wine Grids (Rhombic Wine Cellar):
Factory-milled slot-interlocking construction — small wooden strips are grooved and joined together without nails, forming a pure plug-in grid structure. Each cell holds one bottle — a classic mortise-and-tenon style wine grid.
3.Central Drawer Bank:
6 drawers with matching solid wood integrated handles. Drawer boxes are typically made of thin multi-layer solid wood / fir. Equipped with three-section dampening soft-close slides. Drawer fronts are grain-matched to the cabinet body for consistent color and texture. Fronts feature either handle-less design or small exposed handles.
4.Bottom Open Base (Recessed Platform):
The lower section is left open with pre-installed power outlets, suitable for a water dispenser or decorative items. The back panel is a single full board with edge banding, installed separately.
III. Surface & Edge-Banding Core Techniques (Key to Custom Cabinets)
1.Surface Finishing — Two Options:
① Wood Veneer Process: Substrate is laminated with natural wood veneer → sanded → coated with open/semi-open wood wax oil or PU lacquer for authentic wood grain texture.
② PET/Melamine Laminate: Wood-grain film is heat-pressed onto panels — a lacquer-free process that is scratch-resistant, durable, and more cost-effective.
2.Edge-Banding: Premium PUR hot-melt adhesive edge-banding, with rounded or straight edges. The edge tape blends seamlessly with the panel with minimal visible joint lines, ensuring excellent moisture resistance.
IV. Trimming, Lighting & Installation Details
1.Edge Finishing: Side edges, top gaps, and joints between the cabinet and walls/ceiling are sealed with color-matched caulk for a seamless look.
2.Lighting Provision: Recessed ceiling spots are pre-arranged, and the cabinet interior can accommodate embedded shelf LED strips (low-voltage sensor type). This unit is pre-wired but not yet fitted with lighting.
3.Back Panel: 5mm or 9mm thin back panels are inserted into grooves on the cabinet frame — no exposed nails, and no visible fasteners from the side for a neat finish.
V. Advantages, Challenges & Industry Insights
✅ Advantages: Striking full-wall presence with comprehensive zoning (wine storage, display, enclosed storage, drawer organization). The contrasting white vertical accents enhance the premium aesthetic.
⚠️ Craftsmanship Challenges: Wine grid assembly is labor-intensive; wood grain alignment requires precision; overall dimensional tolerances must be tightly controlled to maintain even gaps against ceilings and walls.
💡 Final Touches: Adding LED strips, applying caulk, and removing protective film will complete the final look.
